Tesla Motor’s EV Roadster & Raging Grannies to appear at Palo Alto EV Rally

Tired of today's high prices for gasoline? Come out and see alternatives to those high prices and talk to people who drive EVs EVeryday! Mark your calendars, the Silicon Valley Chapter of the Electric Auto Association (EAA) is proud to announce the 34th Annual EV Rally & Show on Sept 30, 2006 10am-4pm at Palo Alto High School and the 4th Annual EV Conversion Workshop on Oct 1, 2006 10am-5pm in Cupertino, CA. Both EVents are free and open to the public.

EV Rally: Sept 30, 2006 10am-4pm Palo Alto High School
Come see and ride in production electric vehicles (EVs) like the Toyota RAV4-EV, Solectria Force, and Ford Ranger EV; conversion EVs; ride electric bikes & scooters. Come see hybrid vehicles, like the Toyota Prius and the Honda hybrids. Come learn about plug-in hybrids (100+ mpg). EV battery and component vendors will be displaying their technology. We’re pleased to have a rare appearance of the newest production EV – Tesla Motor’s EV Roadster. SOLectric Electric will have a solar display (what better use of a solar array than to power an EV?). We’re also pleased to announce that the Raging Grannies will be performing and celebrating electric vehicles and the positive alternative that EVs represent. We’ll also have food and drink vendors. So come see a cleaner transportation alternative, have a little fun and stay for the food.

For more information, visit the official rally pages at http://www.eaasv.org/rallyinfo.html. If you have a vehicle to enter in the rally or would like to have a vehicle on display, we ask that you register http://www.eaasv.org/eaasv-forms/rallyfrm2005.pdf (there is a small donation to help defray the costs associated with this EVent).

EV Conversion Workshop: Oct 1, 2006 10am-5pm
Could your car be converted to run on batteries instead of gas? Would it provide the speed and range you need? How hard is it to convert? What does it cost to convert and operate an electric car? These questions and others will be answered in a free one-day workshop sponsored by the Silicon Valley Chapter of the Electric Auto Association.

The early portion of the talk will cover general information about conversions - cost, performance, environmental issues, etc. Speaker Mike Brown will then get into the nuts and bolts, from choosing a suitable chassis, stripping it, installing the components and wiring, to charging, maintenance, and driving techniques. The public is encouraged to attend, and questions are welcome. Several electric cars will be on hand for examination during breaks.
