EV Rally participation rules

Eligibility
Anyone with a valid driver's license and car insurance may apply to run an electric car in this rally. This vehicle must be "street legal" and pass an inspection by one of the rally officials. Registration forms, fees, liability form, and your auto insurance company name are required for all vehicles in the rally and on display. Registration and inspection will begin at 8:30am the day of the rally. Inspection is not required for vehicles on display only.

Registration (for Rally and Display)
Registration is required, and is $20 for the first vehicle, and $10 for each additional. This fee helps recover the cost of the rally. Donations are encouraged. Please email or snail mail your registration forms by August 23, 2007 so they'll printed and ready for you to sign and post on your vehicle (we'll file the personal info; the vehicle info will go on the EV) the day of the rally.

Inspection (Rally only)
An inspection card will be issued at registration. Present this card and proof of insurance to the inspector, who will inspect your EV. Vehicle must be street legal and have emergency disconnect.

One Passenger Rule
Every vehicle capable of carrying two or more people (including driver) must carry a passenger if passengers are waiting for a ride. Passengers will be lined up near the starting point, so the driver can exchange passengers after each lap. If there are no passengers waiting, the driver may continue after checking with the judges.

Awards
Awards will be offered to registered vehicles on display as well as to those that participate in the rally. Display awards may include: Best Looking, Best Engineered, Best Classic, and Coolest Overall. Rally awards include Distance (one for PbA and one for more advanced batteries). There may also be awards for single passenger vehicles (rally and display).

  4. All traffic lights (3), signs (5 right turns at traffic lights), and laws must be obeyed. No rolling through stop signs!
  5. The all-electric vehicles that completes the most laps for PbA and for advanced basttery types by 4 pm will be declared the endurance winner.
  6. In the event that two or more vehicles have run the same number of laps by 4pm, those vehicles may run a timed lap to determine the winner. Observing the speed limits, the shortest lap time wins.
